Motorcycle Insurance Matters To Consider
Motorcycle Safety Foundation, MSF-usa.org, is an excellent resource for education and training, even if you already have a motorcycle training course under your belt and your license secured. Be the safest driver you can be!
The summer months have the highest number of motorcycle accidents, so now is the time to review your policy. We would love to go over it with you! Since motorcycle accidents cause bodily harm more often than not, it is wise to get the best coverage you can.
The State of Pennsylvania has a minimum of $5000 for first party benefits, that is benefits paid to you, the owner of the policy. Pennsylvania also maintains a minimum requirement of 15/30/5 which means $15,000 of bodily injury to one person in an accident, $30,000 of bodily injury to more than one person in an accident, and $5000 of property damage protection for a single accident.1
We encourage riders to go beyond this basic level insurance to compensate you for any medical bills, property damage and out of pocket expenses if an accident occurs. Your best bet is to go with full tort. Full tort coverage means you keep the right to “go after” the insurance for an at fault driver for medical expenses, lost time wages and pain and suffering.
There are a few ways to save, for example, with our “laid up” plan, insurance premiums are paused during the winter months. Since it is hazardous for motorcyclists to drive in those conditions, often times the motorcycle is stored for the season, reducing the risk of accidents. Meanwhile, this plan maintains the comprehensive protection against non-accident situations such as theft and fire.
